Margaret Brennan headed to Bloomberg

CNBC's retail reporter Margaret Brennan will be doing the "reverse commute" by joining Bloomberg TV as an anchor. Most of the time, it's BTV talent headed to Englewood -- Melissa Lee, Dylan Radigan, Erin Burnett, etc -- but score one for Bloomy.

Brennan is a rising star; good get for BTV.  I wouldn't be surprised if she uses it as stepping stone to something bigger.

Find that boy!

 ** work alert **

Everyone's seen that iconic photo of Megan Fox and her would-be teenage suitor ... it's the photo seen around the globe. Well, Kodak (a Ketchum client), is offering five large to anyone who can locate the boy so that he can give Megan his rose.

It's a beautiful story of love, devotion, roses ... and Kodak moments.  So kid, if your'e out there, come forward so I can collect five grand!

Kodak Offers Reward to Help Connect Actress Megan Fox and "Boy with Yellow Rose"

Company offers $5,000 to the person that can help make this connection happen

Kodakwould also provide new rose and travel expenses for boy and his family

Rochester, NY, June 23, 2009 — Perhaps in one of the greatest “missed connections” in social interaction, a courteous young boy with a delicate rose missed his moment with destiny on June 16, 2009, when
his attempt to give a yellow rose to actress Megan Fox at a movie premiere in London, England missed its mark.

Although this thoughtful gesture fell victim to “the wrong place at the wrong time”, Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE: EK) believes that fate has other plans for this idealistic young lad.

In an attempt to foster a new relationship with two amazing people, Kodak urges the “Rose Boy” to come forward and identify himself so that the company canhelp arrange a real roseexchange. To help accelerate his prompt identification, Kodak will offer $5,000 to the first person who can provide verifiable information that enables Kodak to make this connection happen. Kodak will also cover travel costs for the young man and his family to help allow destiny to take its course, and provide cameras for him to capture the moment.

“It’s amazing how just a photograph can connect and change the lives of two complete strangers,” said Leslie Dance, Vice President of Kodak's Worldwide Brand Marketing & Communications. “If this photo is any indication, this boy was really hoping to meet Megan Fox and give her that rose, and we'd love to help make his fantastical wish come true.”

Please send us an email at
yellowroseboy@gmail.com if you have any information or can help turn the rose boy’s dreams into reality.

National debt is the greatest threat to our country

An absolute must read piece by Shawn Tully of Fortune on the ticking time bomb that is the spiraling-out-of-controld debt.   I believe the growing national debt is the greatest threat to our national security over the long term.  It's absolutely unsustainable and will be disastrous for our economy.  If this piece doesn't scare the politicos straight, nothing will.

Aaron Stewart

ESPN's Tom Rinaldi did a wonderful piece on Aaron Stewart, the son of the late Payne Stewart.  If this doesn't have you in tears there's something wrong. Very wrong.

Meet Zeke Emanuel

Everyone knows Rahm Emanuel, and most people know of his brother, Ari Emanuel (for whom the character of Ari Gold of Entourage is based on), but those two might not even be the most accomplished of the Emanuel boys.   Meet Zeke Emanuel ... fascinating piece on him in the New Republic.   Politics aside, the three Emanuel boys may be the most accomplished sibling trio since the Jonas brothers.

AP guidelines for social media

Gawker.com has a post about the AP's new Facebook and Twitter guidelines for its employees. It's pretty straight forward; nothing too earth shattering.  In the memo to its employees, the AP editors take a pot shot at MSNBC's Chris Matthews in one of their examples:

"Also, when tweeting, remember there's a big difference between providing an observation ("I nearly bumped into outside Penn Station") and an opinion ("I nearly bumped into that loudmouth and obnoxious Chris Matthews outside Penn Station")

Not sure if we'll see any AP reporters on Hardball anytime soon ...

US Open

Hats off to the USGA and the grounds crew at Bethpage Black for making this US Open as playable and exciting at it has been.

On Thursday morning it looked like the tourney might not be completed until Monday or Tuesday.  As it stands now, there's a good chance they'll have it rapped up tomorrow night.

My thoughts so far:  Boy it's good to have David Duval back on the leaderboard.  How great would it be if he contended on Sunday?  The only other storyline that could dwarf a Duval victory, of course, would be a Phil victory.  He's still within striking distance, though he needs to post a red number in the third round to have a shot.  My guess is that Barnes and Glover will come back a bit, and -5 or -6 might win it.

As for Tiger, he's just not hitting enough fairways.  He'll need at least a 67 in the third round to have any chance at hunting down the leaders.  Possible? Yes.  But not probable ... he's never won a major from behind.

Let's hope for a dry Sunday!

Most accurate headline ever

If you want a preview of the NJ Gubernatorial race, check out this Politico.com piece. Captures it perfectly.  The headline says it all: "NJ Governor Race Could get Ugly".   That's like saying 'Speidi' could be freaking annoying.
