Can Steve Brill save Journalism (or at least newspapers?)

A few months ago, Steve Brill announced an ambitious plan to help newspapers and other media organization capture revenue from their website through a micropayments system.

Well, according to Webnewser.com, Brill's group has signed up 500+ newspapers to participate in the micropayment system.  The details haven't been released yet -- he's going to let the individual papers do it themselves -- but it's a good sign nonetheless. If enough papers participate in this, the system may work in driving additional revenues.  If there are too many hold outs, it'll pretty much collapse.
