His central thesis:  can over-the-top, win-at-all-cost, big-money-shakedown politics be successful in the Age of Obama?  It's a great question with no obvious answer.  McAuliffe is locked in a primary battle with two local pols, both of whom have tons more credibility as candidates, but whom lack Dr. Spin's insider connections and dough.

It'll be a fascinating case study to see if that old-style politics still resonates ...
