Len Berman: class act
Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 09:42AM Michael Winerip of the New York Times has a nice tribute to Len Berman, the veteran NBC-4 sports anchor in New York.
Like so many local TV personalities, Berman was a casualty of cutbacks, and he signed off last week after a 23 year run with NBC. Berman was a rarity in the TV world: a class act. There was no pretenses, no outsized ego, no prickly behavior. He had a concise, declarative, style that stood out in the sea of blow-hardiness that defines sports reporting today. You could count on him to cover all the sports news of the day, offer a funny moment or two, give a dollop of opinion, and do it in a way that the ESPN anchors can't seem to grasp.
Great run Len -- you will be missed.
