Julie Schlosser and Lee Clifford leaving Fortune Magazine

Normally I'm bummed out when great reporters (and ones that I've known for a long time) leave the profession, but in this case it's tempered by the fact that Julie and Lee are leaving to start their own business, which is very cool.

A source tells me that they're kicking around a few ideas in the "social capital space," which doesn't surprise me in the least.   It won't be a non-profit from what I'm told, just something that's socially responsible.  And it has nothing to do with rumored layoffs looming on the horizon.  Just time to try something different, though they'll still contribute occassionally to the publication.

Julie is the special projects manager (based in DC), and wrote many of the cool management pieces in the Front section of the book, while Lee is the assistant managing editor and did the Life at the Top column, among other things.  Both are outstanding journalists and will be sorely missed.
