Shea stadium: a beautiful sight to see

I thought I'd end a chaotic week on a slightly more uplifting note.

My buddy and fellow Mets season ticket holder Ken "Kenny Boy" Belson has this terrific piece in the New York Times about two brothers who attend a dozen Mets games a year. 

What's unusual about it is that both are legally blind. What's more unusual is that they seek no special treatment from the Mets or Shea Stadium; they've been quietly going about their business for years, relying on the help of strangers to navigate the stadium and avoid foul balls.  They bring six inch telescopes to catch faint images of the action around home-plate, and listen on their portable radios.

Said one brother:  “If I’m going to get lost, I’d want to get lost in Shea Stadium. It’s been my favorite place to go.”

Hopefully they'll see something special this October.
