Hell hath no fury like .. the MSM when it misses a good sex scandal

File this one under the "furiously making up for lost time" category ....

Yesterday the New York Times ran a lengthy piece chronicling the vast connections between John Edwards' former campaign chair (and prominent asbestos attorney) Fred Barron, and the lawyers for the two principals in le affaire Edwards, Rielle Hunter and her "supposed" lover/baby father, former Edwards campaign aid Andrew Young.

After denying any involvement whatsoever in coordinating Ms. Hunter's and Mr. Young's denials, turns out that Fred Barron had actually set them up with lawyers, arranged for their move from North Carolina to California, and financed their lifestyles.  He admitted as much in the Times story, though he was still sketchy on all the details (of course -- how could he possibly remember such a small incident such as covering up a massive love-child scandal for a prominent candidate for president; I mean, I don't remember if I took the 4 train or the 5 train to work four weeks ago -- same thing).

Meanwhile, the National Enquirer -- our eras Woodward & Bernstein -- vows to continue on the story until Edwards admits paternity.   "We have exclusive photographic evidence, pictures, videos, hard proof to further incriminate Edwards," said executive editor Barry Levine. "He doesn't at this point know what we have, which is why I'm asking that we don't reveal too much yet. And which we will use unless and until he acknowledges paternity."

So Edwards has the NYT chasing him down on one end, and the Enquirer on the other.  Yea, this is gonna end good for him ...

Pure political entertainment - if you're not John or Elizabeth Edwards. Wishing (hopelessly) he would show up on the Daily Show - or nickragone.com as special guest blogger - to tell his "side."
