MSM goes from not caring to obsessing over Edwards

I promised to stop blogging about le affaire Edwards, but like the man himself ... I'm sort of lying.

I just find it fascinating how the mainstream media ignored this story for close to a year, and now they seemingly can't get enough of it.

Andrea Mitchell was on the Today Show this morning with a lengthy piece chronicling the holes in Edwards' denial (there are many), and dissecting the exact timeline of this whole sordid mess.

At this point, Edwards career as a politician -- and even a policy advocate -- is way over, so I'm not really sure why we should care about this any longer.   He's toast, plain and simple.   Sure, there's a kind of morbid fascination with watching a train wreck in slow motion, but he's no longer a newsworthy political figure, and it's highly unlikely he ever will be again.

I guess the MSM is making up for lost time.

Nick, the real story with this mess is just beginning. He opened floodgates with Nightline interview, and in doing so, told so much additional and contradictory information that it begs for more media coverage - it was his doing. He lied on national TV while trying to offer a mea culpa. Had he come completely clean and admitted EVERYTHING, there would have been a shred of a chance for him to redeem himself. No longer, he made it all worse. What an pompous jerk.

just go to huffingtonpost.com or any other news/political site and you will see it all. MSM is starting to connect the dots and get the real timeline based on interviews with mistress' frinds, colleagues and others. How a skilled politician like Edwards could have thought his interview, where he told tons of lies, would somehow make this story go away is amazing to me. The story has only just begun and you can bet your bottom dollar that every network, entertainment show, news magazine show are already offering her the world to tell the full story.
