Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia is spectacular ... Phillies fans are spectacularly Neanderthalish
Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 11:53PM I spent the better part of nine hours today at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, watching my beloved Mets try to rip my heart out with another gut wrenching loss.
Fortunately, after suffering through a three hour rain delay, unspeakable abuse from Phillies fans (let's just say they make Yankees fans look literate), and another Billy Wagner meltdown, my sanity was spared when Fernando Tatis hit a two run bomb in the 12th inning to seal the Mets victory.
Citizens Bank is a glorious stadium -- an absolutely wonderful place to watch a ball game, even if Phillies fans are chromosomally challenged. For New Yorkers, it's an easy trip down the New Jersey Turnpike, and well worth it. If you're a visiting fan, make sure to wear your colors proud; Phillies fans really enjoy a diversity of opinions in their house.
