No Tiger, no matter ... Phil still chokes

My favorite golfer, Phil Mickelson, got off to a bumpy start at the British Open with a 79.   With Tiger recuperating from knee surgery, this was Phil's big chance to win the Open Championship.  Looks like it's not going to happen.   I thought I'd write Phil a letter of encouragement.

phil.jpgDear Phil,

You suck.

Nick

P.S. How bad do you suck? Well, imagine Manny, Big Papi, Lowell, JD Drew and Youkalis all went down with torn ACLs, and they had to play the Yankees.  Who would win? Ok, bad example, the Sox would still win, but you get where I'm going with all of this.  You still suck.

Footnote:  Evidentially, my encouragement spurred Lefty to a -2 under 68.  I'd like to think that my positive reinforcement helped.

My thoughts exactly. Even after getting the major win bugaboo behind him, he remains the one player I both love and hate at the same time.

For all the years of talk of Phil's short game mastery, I have never seen a top player miss as many crucial 3-5 ft putts. He is baffling to me
