Morning Joe finding a morning audience

New York Magazine has a great piece on Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show, and his surprising success as a morning talk-show host.

joe.jpgI'll confess that I'm a big fan of the show -- more so then Imus' former MSNBC show -- and I'd love to appear as a guest someday to promote my book.

But even if you're not a fan of the show, you can't deny Scarborough's success.   The ratings have nearly doubled since last year, and are well ahead of Imus's before he got canned.  He's carved out an interesting niche among the galaxy of talking head shows, and there seems to be real chemistry among the regular guests.

Beyond that, he gives guests a platform -- and plenty of time --  to develop and articulate their point of view -- a unique proposition in today's shout-fest climate.  The fact that he's a former Republican Congressman, (and a part of the Gingrich revolution at that), and yet is well-respected and liked at MSNBC, and has a following among it's core liberal audience, is impressive.

He was certainly not the logical or odds-on choice to replace Imus, but he's undoubtedly made the most of it.   If you haven't watched his show lately, it's definitely worth checking out.

I am a huge Morning Joe fan. I just read somewhere yesterday whispers that Joe is in the running for hosting MTP. I can see that.
