Take me home ... West Virginia
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 07:18AM The expectations game is working against Hillary Clinton today.
It's expected that she'll have a blowout victory tonight, and to some extent the media is already discounting her victory. While she should get a minor fundraising bump, it won't be nearly enough to erase her $20 million campaign debt. In essense, a victory tonight buys her another week until Obama wins Oregon and takes an insourmountable pledged delegate lead.
And how is Obama reacting to West Virginia? According to George Stephanopoulos, Obama will be campaigning in key battleground states this week: Michigan, Florida, Missouri and Pennsylvania. Clearly, they've moved on to the general election.
The next big milestone in this campaign will be the Vice President selections. For Obama, it will be interesting to see if there is mounting pressure from Democratic activists to include Hillary Clinton on the ticket. There's no doubt team Obama would prefer to choose someone else, but if there's enough grassroots support for Hillary, it may be unavoidable.
