New Newsweek poll
Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 07:32AM The latest Newsweek national poll shows Obama with a commanding 54-35 lead over Hillary Clinton with Democratic primary voters -- his largest lead to date in any national poll.
It's pretty amazing given the rough couple of weeks Obama has had, but the real takeaway is that a growing number of Democratic voters find her untrustworthy and dishonest. Part of that undoubtedly is fallout from "sniper-gate," but some of it is likely collateral damage from her relentless (and sometimes misleading) attacks on Obama.
I think Democratic voters are just tired of her and the campaign, and want to move on to the general election. It's simply a case of Clinton fatigue -- both Hillary and Bill -- and voters want to turn the page. Ironically, her initial big lead in the Pennsylvania polls are now working against her: If she doesn't win PA by a commanding margin -- at least 15 points -- it will be seen as a sign of weakness, and the drum beat to pack it in will grow louder.
