Another endorsement

Though he isn't a super delegate, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich was certainly a longtime FOB, and his endorsement today of Barak Obama is yet another blow the Clinton campaign.

reich.jpgLike Bill Richardson before him, Reich put aside his ties to Clintons and went with Obama anyway, knowing full well it will probably sever his friendship with both Bill and Hillary.  And also like Richardson, he cited the divisiveness of the campaign as a major factor in his choice.  "He also presents the best chance of creating a new politics in which citizens become active participants rather than cynical spectators," Reich writes on his blog. "He has energized many who had given up on politics."

It speaks a lot of the candidate when longtime friends -- people who owed jobs and careers to the Clintons -- feel the need to break ranks and go with Obama.  If FOB's feel that way, it's easy to imagine how the remaining undecided superdelegates will go.

Footnote:  Two other Democratic stalwarts -- former senators Sam Nunn and David Boren -- have endorsed Obama as well, and have agreed to serve on his national security team.
