Hillary: champion of the second amendment?

This primary season has brought on a bunch of interesting flip-flops, "nuanced" positioning, and plain old double-talk -- on both sides of the ledger.  It's always fun to watch candidates reconcile past positions with current political realities.

shot.jpgBut for sheer audacity, Hillary's repositioning as a gun toting "every woman" takes the cake.  Sensing an opportunity to further drive home the point that Barak Obama is an elitist, she's actually worked guns and the Second Amendment into her stump speech.

"Americans who believe in the Second Amendment believe it’s a constitutional right; Americans who believe in God believe it’s a matter of personal faith," said Hillary on the stump in Pennsylvania yesterday.  The New York Times goes on to say that she "reminisced about her father teaching her how to shoot when she was a young girl."

This is the same Hillary Clinton who, according to New York Times reporting in 1999, urged Americans to press Congress to "buck the gun lobby" and pass restrictive gun control measures.   I wonder if the NRA or red-state voters feel like Hillary is in their corner?

Footnote: You can add shot-drinking to the list of things that Hillary enjoys, along with shooting guns and defending the Second Amendment.

what's wrong with enjoying a bonding moment with a parent while learning to shoot (a typical bonding moment for men, but one that would be over analyzed for women)?

And, funny you posted this photo- I just saw a Fox piece on it:

I understand the positive play this footage gets her (she's more real, etc...), but I hate how, according to the commentary on the video, as a woman who "typically" has drinks with her staff and press, it's still viewed as an effort at "over-compensation."

ahh, how the judging of women for being women continues...
