Wake me up when it's over!

I'm not sure if there was a winner of this debate, but the loser was clearly the format.

Town Hall debates are supposed to encourage direct dialogue between the candidates.  For some reason, Tom Brokaw felt compelled to play time cop, and in doing so stifled any real conversation between the two.

The debate was a snoozer, but in the end that's a win for Obama.  No knockout punches, no gaffes, no memorable moments (or as one Obama aid put it, "no mud, no hits, no errors").

The only piece of news to come out of the evening was McCain's plan to buy up mortgages from struggling homeowners and refinance them at a lower rate.  I'm not sure how practical that would be, or how much support it would receive from the Republicans in Congress, but it will certainly be talked about on the campaign trail tomorrow.

McCain needed a knockout, but didn't really throw any haymakers.  Instead he threw a Hail Mary pass with this mortgage plan -- one that likely won't find the endzone.

I think this was beyond boring and the most important thing I wanted to hear -- WHAT THEY WILL ACTUALLY DO -- about the economy, about the war, never really materialized. I was mildly impressed with Barack's statement about killing Bin Laden and destroying Al Queda but we've heard this all before by both parties. CNN is calling Barack as the winner but really, I think they both sucked ...

Please Nick...you and I both know Independents are going to make up their mind the day of the election. These Polls are all BS

Fact. At this point in the 2000 election. Al Gore was leading George Bush in all of the poles.

The Media ia pathetic...it's like they are ready to call the election now. The whole premise that I cant watch the debate without all these FUCKING SCORECARDS tellnig me how I am supposed to be reacting is such condensending BS....like we can't make up our own minds...we are supposed to follow thought with what some complete stranger is thinking, which by the way are clearly NOT truly independent voters.

Why can't the media just let the vote take place and announce who wins....they have to try and constantly create story after story to keep it interesting....the best is when the media has stories analyzing the media.....what a joke

Hey What Really Matters - go back to your stupid right wing think tank group and tell them this race is OVER. The support for Obama is far superiror to the slim leads Gore had way back when.

McCain knows this, why do u thing he and his skank VP candidate are doing nothing but attacking him and trying to scare the public. Are you proud of a candidate when his crowds chant death threats during a stump speech? You probably are, which is why you and your ilk can take a fling leap.

I think Obama will over poll slightly, but not by 8 points. probably by 2-3 points. McCain needs to get within 3-4 points to have a chance.

Mitch...so the Maverick is also responsible for what someone yells out in a crowd. Like there aren't tons of liberals secretely wishing Macain has a stroke or passes away at his age.

Mitch it's amusing that you never can adress my specific argument with Obama and his policies. You like most liberals resort to sandbox name calling like "Bush is stupid" "Bush is a Monkey" soooo profound.

I was at a comedy club a few months ago....and I feel this sums it up best for how silly the liberals sound. Comedian after comedian got up and was just ripping into Bush...most of it wasn't even jokes...it was just this outpouring of anger and ranting...most people weren't laughing they just wanted to see the meltdowns.

The biggest laughter of the night came at the end

A comedian got up and said this

" I don't understand all this anger. And I hear all this talk about how stupid and retarded George Bush is. Let me get this straight. You're (pointing to the other comedians) are telling dick jokes in a dark room and he's the leader of the free world. Now tell me again who is retarded?"

The place exploded in laughter.....in the middle of NYC
