One final parting shot from Bubba
Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 07:31PM You have to hand it to Bill Clinton -- he's nothing, if not consistent.
Bubba has done nothing but needle, criticize and undermine Barack Obama this entire election season, and even while campaigning with him in Florida today (their first joint appearance, btw), he couldn't resist one final parting shot.
It came in the form of a backhanded complement about Obama's handling of the economic crisis. Said Bubba:
"I haven't cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis). He said, 'Tell me what the right thing to do is. What's the right thing for America? Don't tell me what's popular. You tell me what's right -- I'll figure out how to sell it."
Makes Obama sound like the Salesman-in-Chief. I can't imagine Bill using this type of language -- "tell me what the right thing to do is" -- to describe Hillary (or himself for that matter) in a crisis. Heck, that sounds like a sentance that the Democrats would apply to Sarah Palin, not something a former President would say about a Democratic nominee just five days before election day.
It conjures up the old phrase "with friends like that, who needs enemies" ...
